Hello there, today I will be showing you how to change the old MyBB icons into your own custom choice.
Before:
After

Requirements:
*Ficons Plugin (You have to be a MyBB Central Subscriber)
*A MyBB Forum

************Uploading the Files************
After you have extracted the contents of the "Ficons.zip" you must upload the plugin to your MyBB forum which is the Inc & Uploads folder. I'm sure I don't need to get into detail on how to do that however you could do it through your Cpanel or FTP account. Also make sure to Chmod the uploads & Ficons folder 777.

************Installing the Plugin************
Now go on your MyBB admin control panel and you should see a list of tables under quick access. One of those is Plugins go ahead and click on it. On the list of plugins one of them is Ficons, activate it.

************Removing the old row of icons************
We are going to remove the old row of icons to make it look as if the new ones replaced the old ones but they are in fact new. Go to your admin control panel and click on the Templates and Style. Then from the tables on the left click on Templates. Find your theme and then click options>expand templates. Here you will find many templates. Expand the "Forum Bit Templates". Then for "forumbit_depth2_forum" click on options and edit. From the code you want to remove the part where there is the off and on icon which is in most cases if not all the "{$theme['imgdir']}/{$lightbulb['folder']}.gif"". But you not only have to remove that, you have to remove the whole bracket its in. Then you also have to remove the border next to the icon which is in a different bracket, in most cases, the bracket following the one with the light bulb folder. What I removed, "<img src="{$theme['imgdir']}/{$lightbulb['folder']}.gif" alt="{$lightbulb['altonoff']}" title="{$lightbulb['altonoff']}" class="ajax_mark_read" id="mark_read_{$forum['fid']}" /></td><td class="{$bgcolor}" align="center" valign="top" width="1">". However if you don't get the whole thing, you could just backup the template by copying the text and then pasting it somewhere safe and after that you could use this code to replace the whole thing which might work (If you could figure out how to remove the brackets by themselves it would be way better and this code might not work for all. You could also try removing <img src="{$theme['imgdir']}/{$lightbulb['folder']}.gif" alt="{$lightbulb['altonoff']}" title="{$lightbulb['altonoff']}" class="ajax_mark_read" id="mark_read_{$forum['fid']}" /></td><td class="{$bgcolor}" align="center" valign="top" width="1">). The code it should be for most people:
Code:
<tr>
<td class="{$bgcolor}" align="center" valign="top" width="1"><img src="uploads/ficons/{$forum['ficon']}" alt="{$forum['name']}" /></td>
<td class="{$bgcolor}" valign="top">
<strong><a href="{$forum_url}">{$forum['name']}</a></strong>{$forum_viewers_text}<div class="smalltext">{$forum['description']}{$modlist}{$subforums}</div>
</td>
<td class="{$bgcolor}" valign="top" align="center" style="white-space: nowrap">{$threads}{$unapproved['unapproved_threads']}</td>
<td class="{$bgcolor}" valign="top" align="center" style="white-space: nowrap">{$posts}{$unapproved['unapproved_posts']}</td>
<td class="{$bgcolor}" valign="top" align="right" style="white-space: nowrap">{$lastpost}</td>
</tr>

************Fixing the empty forum area************
What happens:

The problem can be fixed in the forum forumbit_depth1_cat.

[align=center]************How to add icons************
