Who's Online in View New Posts results

I would like to add the little who's online that is at the bottom of the page to the search results for View New posts, I thought it would work just to add the {$whosonline} to the Search Template, however I seem to miss something..

Sorry if this has been asked or done before, I could not find anything about it, maybe my search criteria was not right

Any ideas...how would I move this even to the footer template ?
