You can't and I don't recommend you do that. You don't want abuse of this feature to send invites to people. I also fear a bot taking it over in some way and sending out thousands of emails just to get your server in the spam block list. Yes that can happen if it's abused by a bot. Heck it might get you booted from your host too. So please..don't even consider removing this safety feature. It's a minor inconvenience to legit members using it.

I don't quite understand how to add the invite link to the top of the page. Do I edit the .php header file to ad the codes and then re-upload? Or is the editing done in the Admin control panel?

With mybb all the HTML is inside the admincp under templates. You want the template named "header".
