If you are manually making changes you don't escape the variables.

{\$example}

Should be

{$example}

So just don't use the \ character when doing manual edits in admincp.

Problem. When you have a category in a category, it messes it up.

   

Basically there's no column for ficons for categories, as I mentioned before, they don't show on normal categories, and it turns out they don't show like this either. This happens whether there's a ficon uploaded for it or not. May just be a case of don't put categories in categories. And if that's the case, as nobody else has mentioned it, I won't be too bothered if it stays like that, I'll just make it a forum instead.

Ugh...can I seee where this happens for you? Because ficons should work for subforums. It does here just fine.

You can see the ficons on each subforums well.

EDIT: Oh I think I see what you mean. If you make a forum non-postable as a category..hmm....most likely you just need to change the colspan from 5 to 6 on that template. Let me know and I will fix it in package.

I think the category box for mybb is incredibly ugly so I never use it. They need to redesign it imho.

Funny you are right...they have a nice template for their category. Ask them about it because I don't believe that's standard mybb and it should be.
