Two things, optimize your website for search engines by various SEO tools and plugins/modifications so you increase page rank and show on the first page for keywords related to your content, also have content on your page/community.

Also get some decent backlinks from other sites, post a link in your signature on forums that allow it, promote your website/forum on forums that allow it. Searchbots will then follow those links provided they aren't "nofollow" links and start indexing your website as well.

Also submit your website to various search engine, not needed but it helps get your page listed.

Attracting spambots is easy, just read the information above and essentially make your forum an easy target to spammers..

As to why you want to attract spammers/bots is beyond me as 99% of the time, content posted by spambots is malicious and illegal, which could get you in trouble if you don't take care of it.

I'm sure you don't want porn bots posting child porn, that will land a knock at your door by Chris Hanson and deputies for sure... I'm also sure you don't want spammers spamming you're site with Wow Gold scam sites among other nasties.

I use a combination of a Captcha or Recaptcha and a No Spam verification question which usually email validation which stops 99% if not all bots.

Just recently I decided to allow instant activations for accounts and just used Captcha/Recaptcha and a No Spam verification question. Haven't had any spammers successfully get through and spam my site.

I've been getting a bit of referrer spam which I am trying to find a way to fix.

The first step would to post your site here... you will be indexed then your site will be indexed and from there your hits will start to increase, if you want to have spam bots remove the captcha and leave your forum running for a few days.
