Login Field Change 1.4.3
#1
I am looking for help making a login field on my board 1.4.3
Since i have changed over from 1.2, the board never remembers my name & pass using FF or IE.
However, maybe you can give me an answer to why it's not remembering anymore?

I do however have a request too.

This is the login on the board when you first visit the index

This is what you get after clicking on the login link

What i would like is to get rid of that first part.
Just have the login field only when you view the index page.. the second one.
That's at the top. I would also like one the same at the bottom right corner of the index as well.

I was looking at the index_loginform template

Code:
<br /><br />
<form action="member.php" method="post">
    <input type="hidden" name="action" value="do_login" />
    <span class="smalltext"><strong>{$lang->quick_login}</strong></span>
    <input type="text" class="textbox" name="username" title="{$lang->login_username}" value="{$lang->login_username}" onfocus="if(this.value == '{$lang->login_username}') { this.value=''; }" onblur="if(this.value=='') { this.value='{$lang->login_username}'; }" />
    <input type="password" class="textbox" name="password" title="{$lang->login_password}" value="{$lang->login_password}" onfocus="if(this.value == '{$lang->login_password}') { this.value=''; }" onblur="if(this.value=='') { this.value='{$lang->login_password}'; }" />
    {$gobutton}
</form>

Is this where its done? Is so, can you tell me whats needed to do this for top and bottom right?

I know the index templates will also need something changed? ... hehe

Thanks guys Smile

I think this is just how it works now, I've logged in with 4 different browsers and I don't think it's ever remembered the details. Right now all I can think of to do is make clicking login go to member.php?action=login as that will take you to the full log in form which should remember the details. I think there's a way to put this login form there in the welcomeblock but I can't remember exactly how to do that right now, but I'll try and show you how when I can.

ok, thanks Matt.

Where do i make the change you mentioned? member.php?action=login

And what to i change?

Look in your usercp under options check "Remember my login details for future visits.".

Remember my login details for future visits is checked by default, does not do anything labrocca when using the index link to login.
I to am on 2 other 1.4.3 boards.. none remember user login details logging in that way. Real pain in the a$$ if you ask me.
The only way it does remember is if you go to the other login screen. The one that Matt was talking about.

As you can see.. it remembers this way.

Thats why i wanted help adding that login field on the index page.. get rid of the stupid link that opens it.
If you can tell me how to just display the login box that comes up after clicking the link.. this issue would be solved.

Thanks guys Smile

Never had an issue myself. Did you revert all the proper templates when you updated to 1.4x from 1.2x?

Are you sure it's not a browser setting you have? Possibly a cookie cleaning issue when you close your browser?

Did not update, we did a full fresh install and used just our old db.
Our theme is just the default mybb changed by me to give it the new look.
I have got more emails then i can read about this from my members. They all have the same issue as me.

If you can just help me with adding that login box to the index, then we would be all set Smile

Our 1.2 board had the login box on the index.. it was perfect!

And what are you cookie settings? Realistically this problem won't go away until you figure out the problem in your configuration.

What really makes you think that will fix this problem?

Because if you go to member.php?action=login, details are remembered. In the log in box on the portal and sideboxes, it remembers. Never seems to with the log in form in the welcomeblock. At least that's my understanding of it from personal experience both here and my forum.

I got exactly the same problem.
