Ad rotator with members PID's
#1
This is a feature that I saw on a vBulletin forum the other day and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in making it. I don't need it or anything so don't ask me to pay, it's just a suggestion.

Here's the idea. When a user registers / fills in their profile they have the option to enter their Adsense publisher ID. They could also have the option to enter a Channel ID so that they can track their earnings from this.

Then, they will have a x% chance of having their ad displayed on threads they've participated in. This would of course result in a spam issue but I would think that limiting this feature to a certain usergroup, (e.g. paid or very high post count) would ensure that random people aren't just spamming your forum to get their ad displayed.

This of course would need to be refined and a plan would need to be made to prevent spam. I think that this would be a very popular plugin. I'd love to be involved in the development as much as I could, mostly probably brainstorming / problem solving because if I could actually write plugins I wouldn't be posting this here. Smile

Any thoughts?

It would be appreciated if you put it on your list of to do's.

Been on my list for 2 years. I just haven't had the site I would use it. Maybe at SF though. It's probably the most appropriate for that usage.

I would certainly use it. Im gona test all the plugins you make lolz, see what works what does not. So if you make this, while in beta i'll try. This would be better for publishers and what not.

The only down site would be as you said a spamm issue, some people could easily post pornographic material as ads and it would really make the site look bad to the users when or if it showed.

Well you could make a group that they can buy into. Like monthly and then they can post ads. Set up a TOS for the ads and if they don't follow ban them or something.
