Really? Can you share how you did it?

Admin CP -> Templates & Styles -> Templates -> *Theme Name* Templates -> Portal Templates -> Portal
Then just change what you want.

Also to make the portal your home page just rename index.php to forum.php, then portal.php to index.php. *Remember to modify links so they still work for correct pages*
