I want to upgrade, but cannot use paypal
How else do I do it? Do I email a specific email?

You can pay with Alterpay or Moneybookers.
If you ask me for plugins/scripts from here. I will inform the creator (Labrocca) and he'll deal with you then. |

When I clicked on the link to 'upgrade'/'buy subscription' it didn't have an option to pay via paypal.

I did try that, but there's no option for paypal, when I click on the drop down list "Payment Method" it just gives me credit card, nothing else, and I cannot see any other options for paypal.
