MyBB change index page?

I'm looking to change my website so the index page does not go directly to the forums, originally I installed myBB as the index page but want to move it such that it remains in the same directory however it is called forum.html.

Now the problem that this poses for me is that all links back to the homepage link to index.html rather than forum.html, is there a quick/easy fix for this?

Add a .htaccess file in your root with this as the content:

Redirect 301 /index.php http://www.example.com/forums.php

That'll redirect visitors to the index.php page to the new forums.php page
