MyBB Support and Objectional Content
#1
MyBB officially has changed their support policy.
http://wiki.mybb.com/index.php/Help:Support_eligibility

Quote:For ethical and legal reasons the MyBB group also chooses not to provide support to websites containing any of the following:
Hacking
Pornography
Illegal file distribution or piracy
Any other forms of illegal activity
Racist or hateful content

Users known to operate a website which contains any of the above will be noted by staff and they will be denied support in all future instances, regardless of whether the support is intended for another acceptable site operated by the user. This is because otherwise MyBB staff can not be certain if their support is benefiting an acceptable site or one that is not.

Obviously because of my own well-known site I'm part of that list and now denied official open support by MyBB. While I'm not offended by their decision and I do understand it. I'm still rather disappointed.

I'm posting this as a sort of announcement to MyBBCentral members who might be looking for MyBB support on their site and will be denied. Rest assured I'm probably going to offering my own support package here. I will do my best to offer other MyBB admins that are not eligible for official MyBB support an option.

Thank you.

Nice to hear. But I thought that those policies had been used for a long time, hasn't they?
About a year ago I ran a Hacking forum and already then I were denied support.

I think they added this part last month.

Supportforums.net will really be useful to a lot of people as a result of the new policy.
Glad to see someone stepping up to the plate to help some of the sites that are mentioned in the new policy.

Well I think HF contributes greatly to the amount of new MyBB sites that run warez/hacker related content. Both HF and places like Pirate Bays' forum are pretty popular. There is even a million plus post adult forum floating around from a well respected member.

I know because HF runs MyBB that a lot of clone sites run it too. This can be both good and bad so I understand the stance that MyBB has taken and I'm not offended by it. In no way does it make me want to withdraw my support of the project.
